Microneedling is a powerful cosmetic treatment that uses the body’s innate healing abilities to restore the skin and reduce prominent signs of aging. We highly recommend this treatment if you want to tighten, smooth, and restore your skin’s natural glow.
Becker Plastics provides patients with an array of non-invasive skin services. This includes SkinPen Microneedling. We’ll talk more about this treatment option here and explain why you should consider SkinPen.
What is SkinPen Microneedling?
SkinPen microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that rejuvenates the skin, reduces signs of aging, and improves the appearance of acne scars and other types of blemishes. This skin treatment is simple yet effective and uses the body’s natural healing process to restore the surface of your skin.
To create these restorative effects, a SkinPen tool is gently pressed into the skin. SkinPen is FDA-approved and lined with thin needles that puncture the skin. The small puncture marks created by SkinPen stimulate wound healing and make it easier for your skin to remodel itself. This helps treat acne scars and other common skin issues.
How Does SkinPen Microneedling Work?
The SkinPen microneedling tool contains a series of thin needles that target and treat your skin. This device generates controlled puncture wounds, which will kick start the body’s wound healing response.
This effect is a key part of the microneedling process. Once the body senses these small puncture wounds it will quickly begin repairing the damage. As a result, the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated and boosted.
Both collagen and elastin are crucial components of skin remodeling. These proteins keep your skin smooth, strong, and resilient to damage and aging. Collagen and elastin production is stimulated with each SkinPen treatment you undergo.
Through this process, you can reduce fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture, acne scars, stretch marks, and other skin imperfections. Collagen production naturally decreases as we age. However, with SkinPen, you can increase collagen and elastin production which will result in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
What Can I Expect During My SkinPen Microneedling Treatment?
Microneedling with SkinPen is convenient and quick. This simple in-office treatment can take anywhere from one hour to two hours to perform at Becker Plastics. After you have been checked in by our team, we will lead you to a treatment room and begin the microneedling process.
This starts by disinfecting the skin and applying a numbing cream to the face to reduce any discomfort during the SkinPen treatment. The numbing cream will sit on your face for around fifteen minutes. Then we will put a hyaluronic acid-based gel onto your skin.
The gel helps moisturize and prepare the skin for the SkinPen tool. Your skin will also heal better and look better as this substance sinks into your pores. Typically, it takes around thirty minutes to complete the treatment.
Our trained medical staff will glide the SkinPen tool over your skin in three separate motions. First, we will create punctures in a horizontal direction. Then we will place SkinPen vertically along the skin and end the procedure in a circular motion.
You can expect some bleeding and inflammation during your microneedling session. But this is to be expected, and these effects are minimal and will go away quickly. Still, our team will monitor your skin afterward to make sure that you don’t have any abnormal reactions. Afterward, you can go back to work and get on with your day.

What Can You Expect After Your SkinPen Microneedling Treatment?
After your SkinPen session, you can expect to see some irritation and redness on the surface of your skin. It might look like you have a slight sunburn, but this is perfectly normal and should not be a cause for concern.
In addition, make sure to follow the aftercare instructions provided by our staff. We recommend staying out of direct sunlight and keeping your face bare and free of makeup and other cosmetic products for the next 24 hours. You should also keep your face moisturized for the next couple of days. We will provide a hyaluronic acid-based gel for you to use at home.
After the first couple of days, any signs of peeling and redness should die down. You can start to use makeup again after the first day of treatment. But try to keep your skin out of the sun until the healing process is complete.
