As you get older, you may notice wrinkles around your mouth or sagging along your jaw. If you are getting concerned about deepening wrinkles around your mouth, loss of fullness in the cheeks, or drooping along the chin, a consultation with Becker Plastics is a wonderful investment in your confidence. The hyaluronic acid injectable products offered by Juvéderm, such as Juvéderm Volbella, may be a great choice for you.
What is Juvéderm Volbella?
Juvéderm Volbella is an FDA-approved injectable gel that can add a bit of rejuvenating fullness to tissues that have started to droop. Volbella is made from hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the human body that provides hydration and volume to the skin. If you’re noticing wrinkles around your mouth and you want just a bit more fullness, a single Juvéderm Volbella treatment can help.
If you notice that the smile lines that form from under the nose to the outside of your mouth no longer go away when your face relaxes, Volbella can be a convenient and effective solution. This product is also helpful to correct asymmetries.
The benefits of Juvéderm are subtle and temporary but can make a noticeable difference in a person’s appearance. If you’re ready to address these problems without resorting to surgery, an injectable filler can be an excellent choice.
How the Juvéderm Volbella Treatment is Performed
Your Juvéderm Volbella treatment at Becker Plastics in New Jersey or Philadelphia will not take more than an hour. Your face will be cleansed and a numbing agent may be applied to the injection sites. Then, the surgeon will carefully inject the filler into the areas of concern.
It should be noted that these injections are deeper than a lot of simple fillers. You may experience some irritation, swelling, or bruising right after your treatment. Most people return to normal activities quickly, however.
Preparing for Your Juvéderm Volbella Treatment
Prior to any treatment with Becker Plastic Surgery, you will need to schedule a consultation to discuss your options and candidacy. Come to your consultation prepared to discuss aspects of your appearance that affect your confidence.
In the days leading up to your treatment, you may need to:
- Scale back on your use of OTC pain meds
- Cut out some supplements
- Reduce some prescription meds as guided by your doctor and our staff
Any medication or supplement that increases your risk of bleeding will make your recovery from Juvéderm Volbella treatments more challenging. Your care team needs to know if you are at risk of more bruising and irritation at the injection sites.
If you are getting Juvéderm Volbella treatments for a special event, you will want to give yourself at least a week to heal up fully. If you are at risk of bleeding or bruising, you will want to allow even more time.
Finally, this is the time to invest in wellness in all forms. If you smoke, now is the time to stop. Your risk of lip wrinkles and skin damage will go down quickly when you stop smoking. Talk to your doctor about smoking cessation aids.

Juvéderm Volbella Recovery
Schedule a little bit of downtime after these injections. You will want to avoid anything that raises your pulse or your blood pressure for a day or two. You will also want to avoid a lot of bending or any activity that causes you to lower your head face-first.
Stay out of the sun and leave your face free of makeup for at least 24 hours. Take some time to enjoy some self-care! Consider investing in a large wedge pillow that you can use to elevate your head and help you avoid rolling onto your side in your sleep.
Stay hydrated, focus on foods loaded with antioxidants to protect your body, and avoid salt. If you’ve stopped smoking, celebrate the return of your tastebuds by trying a variety of fresh fruits and veggies.
Complementary Procedures with Juvéderm Volbella
During your visit to one of our Philadelphia-area facilities for Juvéderm Volbella, you may want to discuss other treatment options as well. Many treatments combine well and can help you reach your aesthetic goals. While you may not be able to get multiple procedures done on the same day, you could combine some treatments over time to address all your concerns.
For example, if you’re getting Juvéderm Volbella to address wrinkles around your mouth, you may want to brighten the skin around your eyes. A non-surgical injection treatment under the eyes can reduce the look of drooping skin and fill in wrinkles under the eyes.
You may also want to address forehead wrinkles. Treatments to lessen the appearance of these lines can include a chemical peel to firm and freshen the skin.
You may also be a good candidate for microdermabrasion, which will remove dead skin cells and impurities, leaving you with refreshed facial skin. Finally, you might consider Botox to relax the muscles under the forehead that cause grooves and creases.
Our experts can help you choose the right procedures for you. Come to your consultation with an open mind!
Faqs about Juvéderm Volbella
Your skin will be cleaned and a topical product may be applied to numb the injection site. You may have some irritation or itching after your injections but it’s fine to take acetaminophen to reduce this discomfort.
Make sure you allow yourself at least a week to heal up fully. If you are at a higher risk of bleeding, give yourself two weeks.
You will not be under a general anesthetic or sedation for your injections. You should be safe to drive. Many people go back to their daily activities soon after treatment.
Some people do find that they relax enough during the aftercare monitoring to fall asleep. Consider bringing a driver if you think you might be groggy after your treatment session.
Juvéderm Volbella injections can last for 12 months. Depending on your skincare routine, your age, and your state of nutrition, you may need injections sooner than that.
